01 / Engineering
Engineering starts with the load.
Wind load changes with location, building dimensions, terrain, building importance, openings and cyclone conditions.
Use the calculator below to obtain a project-specific preliminary wind-load result before system selection.

What's around the building?
Buildings and trees upwind slow the wind down before it reaches the site. The more sheltered the surroundings, the lower the load — so be honest here. A wide-open site carries almost twice the wind load of a dense city one.
✓
CATEGORY 01
Wide open
Open land, coast, farmland or large waterbody. Very few obstacles.
✓
CATEGORY 02
Partly Open Area
Scattered trees, small buildings or low structures nearby.
✓
CATEGORY 03
Town / Residential Area
Houses, trees and buildings regularly surround the site.
✓
CATEGORY 04
Dense City Area
Closely packed buildings, including taller structures, surround the site.
Judge the surroundings the building will have once everything nearby is built, not an empty plot today. If the site is on a corner, a ridge, or faces open ground on one side, choose the more exposed option.
